Day3

Beginning in Milan after a good night's sleep on a good bed we had a hearty breakfast and headed to the DaVinci's Last Supper. Worth seeing . Now we headed toward one of the most famous gothic styles in cathedrals in italy, the Duomo. You can walk on the roof after standing in in a few lines. One wonders how this church was built.I think this should be listed as must see. I wouldn't go on the roof as I did today if it was raining, that's for sure. I feel compelled to say it was a bit hazy today so the pictures reflect that. Topped that off with a gelato which was great.
As we were walking we see lots of men and women riding riding one-speed bikes using the same streets as the motorcycles and smart cars.No helmets but wearing suits and sharp dresses. We thought about renting the motorized bikes that are rented by the city called "bike me" as seen in the photo. Judy

We left Milan about about 2:20 this afternoon. We took a taxi from our hotel to the train station. The driver pointed out points of interest along the way. So many fascinating places but not enough time. We could spend several days here. I love the cafes and it is truly the fashion capital. It is so fun to watch the beautiful people. They seem to have passion for life even in their voices.

We got our tickets with very little trouble, found the train and in an hour we were in Varenna. -Joan

After resting a bit and realizingI had lost my new travel euro credit card we had to contact the company so they would cut the card off but they transferred the rest of the euros to joan's card so I am good. They make you use a pin number with it which makes these episodes less Trying. I think it slipped out of my holder after paying for dinner last night . We ate late around 10pm so that must be the problem. We didn't get worked but glad to have eileen's phone.

So we spent the evening walking around the town which is easy to navigate. Beautiful sights along the lake (lake Como) and the alps so we stopped at a cafe for a dinner and glass of wine . Great food and sat next to a group of women from Seattle about our ages. Small world. Tomorrow we will go to mass at the local church and head out on a ferry around the lake. So we hope for less lugging around our packs/suitcases.
